After Fire Kills 32 Horses, Stables Rebuilt and Protected with Sprinklers

On November 22, 2014, 32 horses were killed in a barn fire at Valley View Acres near Woodstoclk. It was the worst recent barn fire in the area.

Now, a year later, the owners have rebuilt the facility, taking extra precautions to make sure a disastrous fire does not occur again. Even though there are no requirements for sprinkler systems or fire alarms in agricultural structures, the owners chose to install fire sprinklers, smoke detectors, fire alarms and other fire safety measures.

“You go through one tragedy, you think of everything,” said a father of one of the owners.
