Illinois Fire Service Delegation Visits D.C.

Members of the Illinois fire service delegation met with Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition representatives and government officials in Washington, D.C. Members from the Illinois fire service converged upon Washington, D.C. in April to attend the Congressional Fire Services Institute dinner. While there, Illinois fire service members met and lobbied with key officials to discuss legislation, including the Fire Sprinkler Incentive Act.

Among those officials the Illinois fire service met with were U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Mark Kirk, and Congressman Joe Walsh, Robert Todd, Bobby Schilling, Adam Kinzinger, and Randy Hultgren.

The fire service was also excited to meet up with representatives of the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC). Illinois is among the top two states for most fire departments within the Built For Life Fire Department program. The program is designed to help fire departments improve their fire sprinkler education outreach.
